Pre-Run …it's testing time in maryland public schools and news of the looming “Snowquester” has me eagerly anticipating a
trail run… Course …stuck to the trails: orange to blue then the green loop back to blue and
a finish on the yellow trail back to base… Nuts & Bolts …sunny when I pulled out from campus but the storm clouds were rolling in
to filter out the sun by the time I started running…it was a brisk 43 degrees… The Run ...ran in bursts with hike breaks…kept pace under 11min/miles…trails were
sloppy in places but in overall good shape…5.14 miles in 55:49… Random Thoughts …a snow day off would be welcome! Wildlife ...scattered deer roaming in the woods on a
couple of occasions Recovery Beer IceHouse Edge…Good Snow Beer!
…started a minute before 7am …overcast cold and sunrise ...quiet morning in
the neighborhood ...after two days of hiking, it's back to a training-paced run ...ran 5.2 miles in 47:15 just
about race pace for me ...found the cold air to be the perfect wake-me-up ...hooked
up my iClip today ...particularly enjoyed hearing the PJ Harvey tune “Good
Fortune”... ...Running is Fun!
…overcast and cold at 43 degrees…bundled in layers…enjoyed the peace
& quiet…
The Run
…10K distance in 1 hour 22 minutes 56 seconds…covered the race course…trails
look well-groomed and signage is all in place…stuck with the power hike workout…nice
opportunity to unwind…kicked it in a pair of retired Salomon’s
Random Thoughts
…remembered running the 2012 10K trail race…and going for 140 miles in
March
Wildlife
...friendly dog walker with a couple of
pooches who looked like they were eager for a run…a wild squirrel spoiled some
quiet trail time
