notes...
...left home by 6:30 (15 minutes late); Hannah is running the race today with me & BJ is driving
...arrive with 15 minutes to get ready
...race starts in waves...first off are the runners for cash then by gender and age group...I start six minutes later with my fellow geezers
...just over a mile into the race I have to make a quick pit stop (blame the peppermint tea)
...my first two miles are over 9 min pace then I found my stride and kept the rest of my splits below 9 min miles
...going out the first 6.5 miles I get passed several times and pass a fair share of other runners...coming back I pick off runners slowly but surely...a mile from home I hear footsteps...never check over my shoulder...a half to go and I explode to the finish...no more footsteps
...get a warm welcome at the finish line a minute or so ahead of a large pack of runners streaming in
...time: 1:53:44
...nice wood fire to keep warm
...really fun race with friendly volunteers a great atmosphere and good times all around!
...coming in for a landing
